Gatina washing station was built in 1968. It is managed by the Maguga Farmers Cooperative Society which represents 790 members in the area of Nyeri county who each farm on average one tenth of a hectare in coffee in their gardens in addition to tea, maize, and legumes. The cooperative manages a total of 5 washing stations in total for its 4800 members, one-third of whom are women.
This offering is a beautiful example of the unique qualities often found in Kenyan coffee. Floral, citrusy notes are balanced with complex, dark sugars in the cup.
