Guatemala San Luis el Volcancito - El Gordo Lot

A rich, chocolatey coffee with just a hint of roast to give it some nostalgia in the cup. This coffee is from our longest standing producing partners, the Schippers family. Paulina and Danny Schippers run Dos Niñas stateside and and import their family's coffee from the farm, San Luis el Volcancito in Guatemala. We've been purchasing coffee from them since 2016.

This coffees comes from a different lot than the one we typically purchase from San Luis and was planted for Carlos Prieto, best friend of the eldest member of the Schipper farming family, Johnny Sr, the niñas' grandfather. Carlos is lovingly referred to as "El Gordo" and has been Johnny's best friend since they met as children in school. El Gordo has helped the family many times and taught them much about farming. Sadly, Carlos suffered a massive stroke years ago that left him bedridden. This lot, managed exclusively by Johnny, is a tribute to El Gordo, his friendship, and all the coffee knowledge he has passed to the family.
