Pastor Ordonez is a third-generation coffee farmer and founding member of the Asociación Los Naranjos, a small and tight-knit group of 52 coffee farmers in the area surrounding the town of San Agustín, Huila.
This coffee is strictly of the pink bourbon variety, a recent star-variety of the specialty coffee industry that has grown quickly in popularity thanks to its its sweet, complex cup qualities that often outscore other coffees on the same table. It's a variety that was somewhat recently discovered in Huila and has traditionally been thought to be a mutation of the red and yellow bourbon plants. However, recent DNA analysis has shown that it is actually likely to be an Ethiopian landrace or "heirloom" variety that somehow found its way to Colombia and proliferated farm-to-farm, most likely via seed sharing.
This coffee is a sugary, bright cup that shines with hints of dried mango and clementine.
