This offering comes to us from the Daye Bensa Keramo Farm, operated by brothers Asefa and Mulugeta Dukamo. Located at the heart of Shantawene Village, the farm is in the midst of a natural forest with indigenous trees that are expected to be older than 200 years. The farm is at a reachable distance to out-growers in Bombe, Shantawene and Keramo villages. This location provides the opportunity to work with small coffee farm holders in the community to help them in maintaining and expanding their farms while providing training in best growing practices as well as financial and technical support.
To maintain natural shade and the fertility of the soil various shade trees are planted on the farm. Along with out-growers’ farms it is verified as Organic, C.A.F.E PRACTICE , UTZ and Rain Forest Alliances. In 2020 Daye Bensa won a Cup of Excellence award for their coffee.
This coffee from Shantawene Village is ripe with sweet notes of stone fruit paired with a syrupy body that reminds us of molasses!
