The region of Chalatenango contains many small-scale producers who have, until recently, not seen their coffee sold for specialty coffee prices. Most of them have been selling their coffees on the local-market for a low price with no access to better buyers.
Johny Lemus is one of several farmers from this region who grows exquisite micro-lots of coffee that deserve praise and attention. Lucky for us, our sourcing partner, Cafe Imports, has worked with him and others in gaining access to this beautiful El Salvadoran coffee.
Johny's farm is 3-manzanas which is about 2 hectares or around 5 acres where he grows coffee of the Pacas variety in fertile black soil. He processes coffees in both the natural and washed methods.
This particular offering is naturally processed and full of unique notes of vanilla and raisin. We rank this coffee high on the favorites list as a killer comfort cup with loads of developed, sugary flavors.
